Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about the IELTS test.

You can book your IELTS test online, on the British Council Senegal website: https://www.britishcouncil.com.sn/en/exam/ielts/book-test

You will need a valid ID card to register for IELTS. If you are a Senegalese citizen, you can use your National ID or passport. 

If you are not a citizen of Senegal, please use your passport to register for IELTS.  

Remember to bring the same form of identification you used to register, to your IELTS test. Failure to do so will mean you will not be permitted to take the test.

Payment can be made online with a bank card when you register. You can also register offline and pay with cash at our official British Council IELTS test centre in Dakar, Senegal.  Alternatively, please visit an ECOBANK to transfer directly to our bank account:

Once you register and pay for IELTS with the British Council, you can access IELTS Ready Premium, our most comprehensive IELTS preparation course, for free. IELTS Ready Premium includes practice tests, video tutorials and interactive exercises to help you succeed. Complete your registration well in advance so you have more time to take advantage of the free preparation course.

You can also access IELTS Coach for one-on-one and group classes online. You will receive a band score for each section of the IELTS test. Click here to find out how band scores are calculated.

When you take IELTS on Computer, your results will become available in 1-5 calendar days.

Please visit our Test Taker Portal to preview your IELTS Test Report Form.

If you have taken IELTS on Computer, you can download the electronic version of your Test Report Form (TRF) from the Taker Portal 1-5 days after your test. IELTS on Computer Test Report Forms are only available online.

IELTS results will not be disclosed over the phone or through email. Please visit our Test Taker Portal for a preview of your results.

We will send your Test Report Form (TRF) directly to the institutions you are applying to, whether you have taken a computer-delivered or a paper-based test. Be sure to request that we send your Test Report Form on your behalf, by sending an email to the customer service team:  information@britishcouncil.sn

You will be awarded an IELTS band score from 0-9 for each test section, which reflects your proficiency in English. Find out more about IELTS band scores here: https://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/teach-ielts/test-information/ielts-...

Organisations will usually not accept your results if they are more than two years old.

If you did not receive the score you expected, you can apply for your test to be re-marked. This is called an Enquiry on Results (EOR). You can choose which test sections you want to be re-marked and will need to request this at the test centre where you took the test.

You must apply for a re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date. Request an Enquiry on Results by visiting the link below:

Your Enquiry on Results result will normally be available in 2 to 21 days, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for remark.
