To contribute to the smooth running of the British Council’s teaching and exams operations in Senegal by delivering high quality customer service as part of a larger team that is in line with corporate standards and policies. The post holder will be the first point of contact for visitors, providing information about our services, taking payments, receiving incoming calls and forwarding them to other colleagues. You will also manage client accounts, our client database and deliver any related administrative, financial and marketing activities.

Role overview

Duties include:

  • To file registration documents.
  • To distribute, collect and collate satisfaction surveys.
  • To undertake reception duties as required.
  • To make phone calls to customers confirming start dates of classes, reminding students of start of term, informing them that classes are not opening yet or that registration is still on.
  • To collect contact information from customers.
  • To check the customer feedback box daily, on Facebook responding to feedback and customer comments and, where necessary, forwarding to relevant colleagues.
  • To take booking for placement test and monitor Bookeo registrations.
  • To create, update and responsible the documents we put in the registers.
  • To create and update register.
  • To collect payments from customers, issue receipts and record on registration system.
  • To provide general admin support to the Academic Manager.
  • To provide support to the Academic Manager in preparing new Primary Plus classes for young learners this is due to be launched in October.

Essential skills:

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Proficiency level English and French in speaking and writing (B2).
  • Customer service and sales background.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities. 

Desirable skills:

The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of marketing and communications.
  • Knowledge of the UK.

Working Hours:

The position will require working:

  • Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday.
  • 8 hours a day (1 hour break included) except Friday morning or afternoon (4 hours without break).
  • 36 hours a week.

Benefits:

  • A monthly contribution towards their travel and lunch expenses of 125,000 FCFA.
  • A free place on Teaching Centre general, business and conversation English classes for the duration of the internship. If the intern is registered prior to the end of the internship their final course may run past their last day in the office.
  • Student books required for registration to our English classes will also be provided free of charge.
