The New Connections Grant Open Call for Senegal aims to provide grants to cultural organisations, festivals, artists, and creatives between Senegal and the United Kingdom (UK) to create art, build networks, collaborate, and develop markets and share artists’ work with audiences. It builds on previous open calls related to mobility, exchange and art making which have supported organisations and individuals in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and the UK to develop new ways of working internationally - allowing cultural exchange to flourish despite restrictions on global movement since the onset of the COVID pandemic.

The Call

The call for applications is open to artists, arts organizations, festivals and cultural professionals and/ or creative sector researchers working across the following art forms:

  • Music
  • Film 
  • Architecture 
  • Fashion
  • Design
  • Visual Arts 

Individuals and organisations based in Senegal can apply for the following grant which seeks to promote connections between Senegal and the UK.

The New Connections grant aims to support new or early-stage collaborations between artists, arts professionals, and partners in Senegal and the UK. Projects can include research and development but must include at least one public event, online and/or in-person. Applications from organisations or individuals who have little or no experience of working internationally and are establishing new connections are particularly welcome. (Grants up to £4,000)

Eligibility

  • The call-out is open to artists, cultural professionals, festivals, creative sector researchers working across all artforms/disciplines working with audiences predominantly from 18-35 years. 
  • The main applicant must be based in Senegal (non-Senegalese individuals based in Senegal can also apply)
  • The local partner should have an existing or new relationship with a UK partner
  • The project should be completed by the end of January 2023
  • Artforms/disciplines: Music, Film, Architecture, Fashion, Design, Visual arts
  • Projects working primarily with women and/or disabled artists are encouraged
